Travis Scott and Cardi B have been having a phenomenal 2019 so far and it’s only getting better with the recent news that the two superstars will be headlining the Jay-Z’s own Made in America Festival. Cardi B and Travis Scott have been very busy with Travis just wrapping his Astroworld Tour and Cardi B still enjoying the success of her debut album Invasion of Privacy. These two superstar acts are the perfect fit for the annual Made in America festival that takes place every year in Philadelphia.
History of Made in America Festival
The Made in America Festival is an annual concert and arts gathering that was founded in 2012 by Jay-Z. Philadelphia’s historic Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the location for Made, gives concertgoers rich American history as a backdrop for the popular festival. The festival has always had major star acts and in previous years featured performers like Jay-Z, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Rhianna, Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj, Diplo, and more.
The Made in America festival is about more than just music, it’s about giving back to the community in beneficial ways. The festival will donate this year’s earnings to the REFORM ALLIANCE which is a newly founded program that benefits efforts regarding prison reform.
The Made in America festival was shrouded in controversy last year because the city wanted to shut it down for good. This threat came as a response to multiple incidents of disorderly conduct in public and rioting-like behavior exhibited by spectators of the event. Jay-Z wrote a letter to the Philadelphia Inquirer about the incident asking the city to keep the concert in operation due to its importance for the community. A meeting between Philadelphia Mayor, Jim Kenney and executives from Jay-Z’s Roc Nation resulted in the Mayor committing to keep the festival in Philadelphia for “many years to come.”
What It Means For The Two Stars
Headlining Made In America will have huge benefits for Travis Scott and Cardi B’s careers going forward.
