Avengers: Endgame’s $1.2 Billion Opening Is Biggest in History

The Avengers: Endgame has been one of the most highly anticipated movies of this year. Endgame, Marvel’s follow-up to Infinity War, was released over the weekend and smashed its already astounding preview records by scoring a whopping history-making $1.2 billion dollars overall opening at the close of the weekend. On Thursday night alone, Avengers: Endgame hit a whopping $60 million dollars in preview showing revenue. The Endgame preview beat the previous record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens which previewed at $57 Million dollars in 2015. Avengers: Endgame premiered in 4,600 North American theaters which also set a record for being the widest release of any domestic box office film.

Box-office Hit

Before crossing the historical billion dollar opening mark, Avengers: Endgame had already made over $305 Million dollars domestically in the first two days of the film being released. The movie hit 46 total markets during its opening and made history making an astonishing $330 Million dollars in Chinese theaters. Avengers: Endgame has the franchise’s second biggest opening in the UK with a record $15.3 Million dollars in revenue followed by South Korea which brought in a hefty $14.2 Million dollars for the film.

Prior to the closeout of premiere weekend, media analyst Paul Dergarabedian stated the following in reference to the Endgame opening numbers ,“The moment the world has been waiting for is finally here as Marvel’s epic and mind-blowing ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ has begun its global domination of the multiplex and is already breaking records (most recently obliterating the Thursday pre-show record) and assembling what could be the most monumental global weekend in box office history.” He was right.

How Fans Are Reacting

Fans of the various Marvel comic books and stories have also had a very positive reaction to the film’s opening weekend. Prominent film review sites like Rotten Tomato have given the film a 96% review rating which is the second-best rating earned by a Marvel movie since the release of “Black Panther.” Disney expects that Avengers: Endgame will become very popular through word-of-mouth due to the series die-hard fanbase. People everywhere are sharing their opinions about the Endgame movie and the conclusion is pretty clear – the movie is a monster hit.
