On May 6th, it was officially announced that the new Duchess of Sussex had given birth to her first royal baby boy. The news sent people around the world into a complete frenzy with various media outlets and prominent figures weighing in on the event. Former first lady Michelle Obama even tweeted about the royal birth stating “Congratulations, Meghan and Harry! Barack and I are so thrilled for both of you and can’t wait to meet him. #RoyalBaby” Fans of the newborn royalty have even begun lining up outside of Windsor castle to show their support.
Details about the birth
Meghan Markle successfully delivered her first royal baby boy at 5:26 AM on Monday London time. The baby weighed 7lbs and 3ozs which is good news that the new Duchess was able to give birth to a healthy baby boy. The new royal family member doesn’t have a name yet and when asked about what they plan on calling the newborn Prince Harry said that the couple is “still thinking about it.” The news of the royal birth comes also less than a year after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married which is quite fast. Meghan Markle’s baby shower was a star-studded event thrown by pals Serena Williams and Amal Clooney with other famous celebs such as Abigail Spencer, Gayle King, and Misha NoNoo attending.
Buckingham Palace officially announced the news on Monday that the Duchess of Sussex has gone into labor with her first baby. Kensington Palace was the first to announced Meghan Markle’s pregnancy in October 2018 which was only 5 months after their wedding ceremony. Throughout her pregnancy, Meghan Markle continued to attend to her royal duties but ultimately had to cut down due to the stress of pregnancy.
Next Generation of the Royal Family
While the new baby boy won’t claim kingdom-ship anytime soon, it certainly gets the wheels going in terms of what the next generation of the royal family will look like. Markle’s new baby boy will be 7th in line for succession of the throne which is directly behind his mother and father. Meghan and Harry’s new baby boy will also take Prince Andrew’s spot who is the second son of Queen Elizabeth making him 8th in line for succession of the throne. The new baby is Queen Elizabeth’s 8th grandchild and Prince Harry said that they would present their baby to the world in two day’s time.
What Happens Now?
Over the next few months and years, the newly born baby boy will begin to be welcomed in his new life as royalty. You can expect several ceremonious events and huge announcements to take place over the course of the next several months. The couple has also been in talks to move to Africa however it’s unclear if they still plan on relocating with the birth of their new baby boy.
