Cardi B Tops BET Awards Nominations

Cardi B has had an amazing year so far winning several awards and also adjusting

to her new life as a mom. She has more praise coming her way as it was just released that she scored the most nominations at the upcoming 2019 BET awards. Cardi is nominated in 7 different award categories at the highly-anticipated awards show. The Bronx beauty is nominated for some very prominent awards further cementing her place in the music industry as a consistent and respected artist.

Cardi B was nominated in several categories alongside big-name artist like Drake whose song “Nice for What” is nominated for video of the year. Cardi’s “Please Me” with Bruno Mars, as well as her hit single “Money,” are also nominated for Video of the Year. Cardi is also nominated for the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Album of the Year award for her debut project titled Invasion of Privacy. Nominations are also nominated for the Viewer’s Choice Award, Best Collaboration for “Please Me” with Mars and “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J. Balvin. Invasion of Privacy recently snagged the ultra-coveted Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy’s, beating out albums by Travis Scott, Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller and Pusha T.

Cardi took home the award for Best Female Artist at last year’s BET Awards, and this year she is going up against a slew of highly-respected female artists like Nicky Minaj, Remy Ma, Kash Doll, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lizzo. Cardi will face-off against Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Everything is Love album for Album of the Year and is also competing against Travis Scott’s album, Astroworld.

Cardi B first got her rise to fame on the popular VH1 series “Love & Hip-Hop: New York” and success of her smash first single “Bodak Yellow,” after gaining a cult following on Instagram. The 2019 BET Awards will air on June 23rd from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles and will be available across all television network owned by its parent company Viacom which include VH1, MTV 2, MTV Classic, BET HER, MTV, Logo, and of course BET. As stars like Beyonce, Drake, and Childish Gambino all prepare for the 2019 BET Awards, it will be interesting to see who comes out of the night with the most wins.
